Song of Solomon 2:11-12
For behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land
Are you also suffering from post-winter panic? Do you also feel that, suddenly, spring is here and I am not ready for it?
Well, Jane Sheridan, wrote a beautiful encouraging note for us:
” For everything , there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3. 1
Springtime is a time for renewal of body, mind and spirit. Winter may have been a contemplative season, a time of gratefully reflecting on what has come before and quietly hoping and believing for what is coming. Spring begins the “season of renewal and ends the “contemplative season”.
I invite you to join me to travel this path of transition and transformation together.
We might discover that we can appreciate the winter time as the time of reflection, pruning and waiting expectantly, that prepared the soil of our hearts for the coming of new life. Letting go of ‘small things’ that have become ‘big things’ allows us the freedom to adorn the free space with new colors in bright and vivid thoughts, words, deeds and creativity.
The season lovingly awaits the unfolding of fresh and exciting opportunities to paddle upstream in a boat filled with a good supply of fresh ideas and a pure heart bursting with the ripe fruit of the Spirit.
Let us open the windows and hear the array of colorful birds singing in the season, with a melody of delight serenading their ‘dawn chorus’. As the dew of winter fades and gives way to the fresh spring breeze, let hope arise with expectancy and joy. Join me in waving away the long months of longing and waiting, waving flags of celebration and overflowing with gratitude for His mercy and grace.
Pick from the ripened trees of diverse fruits of pomegranate and honey lavished on us, His beloved, by His goodness and mercy. Drink of the water flowing freely from the streams of living water, freshly washing away all troubles and hardship, making way for the planting of new seeds.
As the dawn chorus rises in song, join me in celebrating a new day!, a new song!, with the sun behind us and the light of Christ before us. Come and see the pansies dotted in the sprawling garden giving breathtaking flashes of color, blending effortlessly with their new buds, revealing their hidden beauty. They boldly declare ” The heavens telling of the glory of God …..”
Go with me to the tabernacle and be seated with me in the assembly, lifting our voices to the throne of God. Open wide the gates and let the King of Glory come in.
Sing with me……sing a new song……it is Spring!
